Pomegranate Margarita. The little 👻 has been in my possession for almost 30 years. It’s the last remnant of a string of Halloween lights and I just can’t part with it. This cocktail is a winner. Pomegranate juice, muddled tangerine and ginger root, tequila. I have also learned that pasteurized (jarred) pomegranate juice makes this cocktail significantly darker! To get this vibrant, autumnal red, you really need the fresh stuff. As for tequila, I’ve tested out both reposado and blanco. Both work here. 1½ oz Tequila 4 slices of ginger 2 slices tangerine 1 oz. Roasted Coconut Breeze. I asked ChatGPT to make me a cocktail with roasted coconut juice. It didn’t, however understand that roasted coconut juice is actually a real product. Instead, it wanted me to reduce coconut water by half, until it turns brown. That’s not going to happen. The result is OK, a little unbalanced. But not bad for an app that threatens to destroy mankind as we know it. it also wants to call anything with coconut a “breeze “. I’ve made a few other drinks with roasted coconut water before. It’s a fantastic ingredient for cocktails, but I don’t like drinking it straight. 2 ounce white rum 1.5 ounce, roasted coconut water. 1 ounce pineapple juice Half ounce lime juice Half ounce simple syrup. Strawberry Coconut FROSÉ Frosé was invented in 2016 at Bar Primi in NYC. I'd read that the original recipe contained vermouth, and indeed, the articles about the bar's drink sensation contain vermouth. I came, however, to a shocking discovery on YouTube video from the time: the original recipe contained Cocchi Rosa, which tastes nothing like your average sweet vermouth, and it sounds like an amazing idea. The drink is infinitely riffable, and most recipes contain strawberries and rose. My favorite and perhaps unexpected addition is coconut water, which lowers the ABV enough to have a full 12oz slushie. It also adds a subtle tropical vacation vibe. Some recipes create strawberry syrups or include ice, but I think the simplest method is to simply blend everything at room temperature, freeze, and then reblend on demand. Alcohol and sugar prevent the formation of solid ice. I also prefer to run the mix through a mesh strainer before freezing 1 bottle rosé 10 oz strawberries 1 17 oz can of coconut water (unsweetened) 1/4 sugar (to taste) Blend all the ingredients. Run through a mesh strainer. Freeze. Tea Tree Sour (with bourbon) Cocktails with Fernet Branca Menta always catch my attention as there are relatively few drinks. My favorite cocktails with it so far have been mixed with Ting (grapfefruit soda) and my personal invention, with an awful pun worthy of Bob Belcher, Terms of Endearmint. The original recipe for this contains Cognac, but I see no reason to limit the drink template to cognac, mint lemon and honey all make fin partners for bourbon. Hot Lips. I happened to have vanilla infused tequila, so I used that in place of mezcal. Jalapeño and vanilla are such an odd pairing. I’m willing to bet some people will not like this cocktail, but I was intrigued by the combination of flavors, if not into it.
